3x3 is three sets of three paintings, presented in my thirty third year. This year in the world has been particularly violent, physically and emotionally. This series of paintings are the product of a process of deconstruction and examination of relations; social, emotional and physical. I am sifting through the layers of what it means to be a cisgendered white male without contributing to violent systems of oppression. These paintings are a visual representation of the internal work that is introspection into socially ingrained bias and constructed identity. A geometric understanding of the universe helps me to grapple with seemingly insurmountable issues and honor complexity.
