The Thea Bowman Women's Center provides a safe and supportive environment for women in the Kensington neighborhood of North Philadelphia. At the center, women participate in group activities as a tool for empowerment.

Together we painted a mandala mural to enliven the meeting room of the new facility. During the painting process, one of the women asked “What does this image mean?” Before responding, I asked what she thought it represented. She answered “I think it’s about new beginnings…”

The mural will be completed in the spring of 2016.
